All Ways Moving in a Charitable
Direction |
|

On April 1st, 2009, All Ways World Wide
Moving launched a new program dedicated to help charities of which WAHS
is one. Relocation Coordinator, Kim Graham-Moore and husband Tim
fostered and subsequently adopted a shy dog now known as "Lily" from
WAHS in March of 2007. |
|
All Ways Moving
customers choose from several charities when there relocation is
complete and a portion of the proceeds benefit the charity of choice.
In the months that the program has been in place, WAHS
has received more than $400.00 in donations from All Ways Moving and
their caring customers.
All Ways World Wide Moving has been a
full service provider of high
quality packing, moving & storage services based in the Pittsburgh, PA
area since 1920.

Link for Love — A New Way of Connecting Business and Charity |
|

Click Here for more details about our Linked for
Love Business Program.
|
|
Link your business to a homeless dog or
cat at the Washington Area Humane Society. Our animals may be in a kennel or cage for a long time while they wait
for that special someone who will take them home forever.
Each adoptable dog and cat featured on
our website is also featured on three other, much larger and
well-recognized websites, who host our pet list: Petfinder
(owned by Animal Planet), Adoptapet.com and Pets911.com.
These sites are very popular and heavily utilized by potential
adopters nationwide expanding the pool of people who view our
animals ... and your link.
This program is geared to businesses who
wish to be associated with one or more "adoptees" at our
shelter through a promise of a donation to the shelter when that dog
or cat is adopted. When your sponsored animal is viewed, your
business website link
[sample] and donation are seen by visitors.
|
|
Your sponsorship may be that little
boost or incentive that potential adopters need to take a second look at
a dog or cat at our shelter.

The Washington Area
Humane Society is a qualifying charity on
igive.com and
GoodShop.com. We
receive percentages of all sales when purchased through the websites. So many of
the biggest name retailers participate
that you hardly to need to look elsewhere -- Barnes & Noble, Best Buy, Home Depot, Old Navy, Petco,
Sharper Image, Target -- The list is so long ... before you shop,
check and see if your store is listed. Chances are what you would
have purchased directly from the retailer's site can be purchased
through igive.com or
GoodShop.com
and the
shelter will receive a portion as a donation. For specific donation
percentages, see the entire list of stores from A to Z

It costs $1,500.00 per day to run the Washington Area Humane Society.
That includes the utilities, building upkeep, medicine, food, cat
litter, veterinarian services, gas and maintenance for our vehicles,
insurance, postage, payroll, and everything else required to run a
normal business.
We have no steady stream of income upon which we can
rely. We rely on you.
That’s what the 1,500 Club is meant to be ... 1,500 people who donate a
dollar a day all at one time. It’s a reliable way to secure our $500,000
annual budget in one fell swoop so we won’t have to sweat the whole year
deciding from day to day between whether to purchase flea and tick
medicine or pay the water bill.
Become a member of an exceptional group of supporters who
pledge a dollar a day annually to our Humane Society. Call 724-229-0404
to pledge your dollar a day. Or email:
wahsorg@fyi.net. You will be contacted during the last week of
November to collect all tax-deductible pledge donations via check
or credit card during that week. Just a dollar a day from 1,500
animal-loving, caring people will do it to keep our shelter in business
for another year. [

Partners,
Angels, Trustees, Helpers, Saviors ...P.A.T.H.S. Program |
If you have visited us, you can see that our
cages and dog runs are always full. Dedicated employees care for these
dogs, cats, and rabbits 7 days a week, and we can only afford to pay them
a little more than minimum wage. We are barely making payroll. It is a
week-to-week struggle to meet expenses. We receive no funding from the
county and only a few of the municipalities contribute. Many wonderful
people bring us food, cat litter, and supplies, but we desperately need
monetary donations to meet monthly expenses.
One way you can help is to join our PATHS
Program (Partners, Angels, Trustees, Helpers, Saviors) and pledge an
amount to contribute each month.
We ask all dedicated animal lovers to take it
upon themselves to assure that the basic needs at the shelter are able to be funded
on a monthly basis. If we can be assured of a steady income for routine monthly
expenses, we may be able to make the necessary changes and badly needed
repairs with our other fundraisers.
Whether you join the PATHS Program or just
send a donation to help us continue to care for many unwanted pets at the
Humane Society, the Board of Directors, employees, volunteers and our
orphaned animals will be sincerely grateful for your thoughtfulness. All
contributors will receive our newsletter which informs our friends of
fundraising events, abuse investigations, and ongoing news about our
homeless animals.

Barn Homes Needed for
Some Unhappy Cats.
Some of our cats that
come to us for a second chance do not adjust to living in a cage,
especially for a long periods. They sometimes bite and scratch because
they are scared, depressed, or just unsocialzed. Many of them become
social and friendly once they are in a cage-free environment. If you
have a warm barn and are willing to feed and care for one of our
cage-crazed cats, please call our “Cat Adoption Area” at 724-222-PETS.
You will be saving a cat and most likely be getting a mouser.
Aluminum
Can Collection
Save all your aluminum cans and bring them to
the shelter. This is a great way for us to raise money for the homeless
animals. Please Note That We Are Only Reimbursed For Aluminum Cans.
Please sort through your recyclables and
discard steel, plastic and glass items. Volunteers have spent countless
hours opening and sorting through mountains of bagged cans to separate the
aluminum from the other debris for the shelter to be reimbursed by the
recycler.
Thank you for your help.

Can't Adopt an Animal but
Would Love to Help One? |

Sometimes the timing is not right, or
the circumstances make it impossible to adopt a dog or cat who captures
your heart.
Consider sponsoring a pet's adoption by purchasing a GET OUT OF JAIL
FREE Card for that dog or cat who melts your heart. Choose an
adoptable adult dog or cat, and pay their adoption fee (Dogs: $75.00 /
Cats: $40.00). We will keep the card on file until someone chooses that
dog or cat to adopt, fills out the application and is approved. Only
then will they be told that their new best friend has a Get Out of Jail
Free card, and when they ride out into the sunset together we will mail
the card to you so you can share in the joy.

We Need Doghouses
Before winter sets in, we try to stock up on
dog houses to give to people who cannot afford them and more importantly
to protect the dogs from the bitter cold and wind when there is no other
place for them to go.
There is an ongoing need for doghouses and
we welcome donations. Please donate sturdy, waterproof doghouses to WAHS
where we can put them to good use. |
